BEWARE! Holiday Scams ๐Ÿ˜ฑ โ€“ Protect ๐Ÿ” Yourself! Protect ๐Ÿ” Holiday Booking!

BEWARE! Holiday Scams!! Don't get caught out!!
BEWARE! Holiday Scams!! Don't get caught out!!

This specifically relates to self-catering properties in Spain. And to be fair, lots of people have fantastic holidays ๐Ÿ˜Ž without any issues.

And, itโ€™s always a good idea to know how to protect ๐Ÿ” yourself, just in case.

Without a doubt, the loveliest feeling in the world is knowing you have secured your dream holiday in the sun โ€“ something fab to look forward to.

Less exciting is that sinking feeling, when youโ€™ve paid the deposit or even worse youโ€™ve paid for your holiday in full only to arrive at the destination to find out the holiday you booked is not real and you have been scammed ๐Ÿ˜ฑ.

There are many ways to help protect yourself including the following:

  • Be very wary of reviews, these can be bought and fabricated๐Ÿ˜ฏ.

  • Only book self-catering villas, apartments that have a Spanish tourist licence. If the apartment/villa doesnโ€™t have a tourist licence it is operating illegally, and you could have problems with the police when staying at the property. At Pleamar 30 the Tourist Licence Number is: VT-494018-A

  • Communicate with the owners: if possible, in person, or by video call or telephone call. Ask them to tell you about the villa, surrounding area, how long have they owned it. Speak to them several times.

  • Book via credit card or debit card ๐Ÿ’ณ. Remember if you only pay for part of your holiday by credit card (more than ยฃ100) you are totally covered for the booking๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป.

When on holiday in Spain expect to be asked for your passport details. Adults over 16 must have their details passed onto the Guardia Civil ๐Ÿ‘ฎ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ‘ฎ๐Ÿผ (the Spanish Police ๐Ÿ‘ฎ๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘ฎ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ). This is a legal requirement for the owner of the property. In the same way that you would have to give your passport details if you stayed at a hotel in Spain.

What you should do:

Itโ€™s your holiday, be confident to ask lots of questions, do not be rushed into paying any money.

The owners of the property should give you as much time and guidance as you need to help ensure that the property and location will give you the fantastic holiday experience that works for you.

How we can help you:

You will get all these assurances from us when you book to stay at the villa at Pleamar 30.

We will answer all your questions about booking our villa by the beach ๐Ÿ–๏ธ.

If you have a general enquiry and would like some advice, do call us.

So make sure youโ€™ve protected your holiday and have a fabulous time away!!

PS โ€“ youโ€™re welcome to contact us if you want any further information about how to check that there is a tourist licence and that itโ€™s valid. And any other questions you may have๐Ÿฆ‰.
